Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA-
Nobody dealt better than the Bears this weekend: B+.

There is reaching, and then there is Braelon Allen at pick 122. The Bears jumped the board by 33 and dared it to prove them wrong. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

The Corley value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The Bishop pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots still on the board.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In slot 9 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick29 Rnd1 Kamren Kinchens
In No. 29 they get a rangy last line of defense. Need was not the driver here.
Pick44 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 44th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
They paid sticker price for Cooper Beebe in Round 3, Pick 11, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick95 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley at pick No. 95 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick110 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
A curious use of the 110th pick. Interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Cole Bishop did not.
Pick122 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Braelon Allen well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick146 Rnd5 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
A wild overpay on Zion Tupuola-Fetui in No. 146, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick210 Rnd6 Erick All
No edge and no loss on Erick All in Round 6, Pick 35; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick215 Rnd6 Brevyn Spann-Ford
They liked Brevyn Spann-Ford enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 215. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
