The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Broncos watched Jahdae Barron slide 176 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with linebacker the one that mattered most. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to the 85th pick, and they scooped it up. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.

Jihaad Campbell in Round 4, Pick 20 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

Jahdae Barron in No. 191 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor need, but a need all the same.

Walter Nolen at pick 197 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.

Somehow Wyatt Milum was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
