Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesC FutureB
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bears a B-.

Nobody else had Thor Griffith anywhere near Round 4, Pick 20. The Bears did, by 75 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Jack Sawyer
In slot 24 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33 Rnd2 Mykel Williams
They paid a round early for Mykel Williams in Round 2, Pick 1, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick52 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tate Ratledge. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick84 Rnd3 Anthony Belton
They paid sticker price for Anthony Belton in pick No. 84, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick110 Rnd4 Rylie Mills
They went early on Rylie Mills in No. 110, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick116 Rnd4 Thor Griffith
They reached into another round for Thor Griffith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick148 Rnd5 Lathan Ransom
Lathan Ransom in the 148th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick180 Rnd6 Hunter Wohler
A straight-up fair deal on Hunter Wohler at No. 180, value and slot in agreement. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick182 Rnd6 Ben Yurosek
Ben Yurosek in slot 182 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
