FutureA+
A solid, sensible weekend for the Buccaneers: B+. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Buccaneers did exactly that with Eric Gentry in slot 217. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Malik Muhammad
In No. 32 they get a press-man option on the boundary at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks is a better player than the Round 2 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick122
Rnd4
Raylen Wilson
Raylen Wilson slid further than he should have, and the 122nd pick is lovely value for the linebacker. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick200
Rnd6
J.C. Davis
A reach on J.C. Davis in pick No. 200; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick217
Rnd7
Eric Gentry
Eric Gentry in Round 7, Pick 1 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick235
Rnd7
Troy Bowles
This one needs a full-page explanation: Troy Bowles in slot 235, miles early. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
