Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall

FutureB-
The Broncos robbed the room for Lew. Final grade: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Connor Lew at Round 3, Pick 30 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The cost of the Deal reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes. Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
In pick 30 they get a disruptive interior force, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick62
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
You do not let a linebacker like Anthony Hill Jr. reach the Round 2 slot and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick94
Rnd3
Connor Lew
Circle this one: Connor Lew at No. 94 is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick116
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore at slot 116 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick130
Rnd4
Sam Roush
This one needs a full-page explanation: Sam Roush in the 130th pick, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick153
Rnd5
Chase Roberts
Fair-plus on Chase Roberts, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick168
Rnd5
Oscar Delp
They paid sticker price for Oscar Delp in Round 5, Pick 30, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick246
Rnd7
Rueben Owens II
Rueben Owens II at the 246th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick251
Rnd7
Alex Harkey
No drama and no debate, Alex Harkey went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick255
Rnd7
Markis Deal
They reached a country mile for Markis Deal at pick No. 255, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
