FutureA+
The Rams got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C+. The Jordan Hall pick is the one that will follow the Rams into the fall. They took him 48 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. That Fields pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Spending an early pick on cornerback with running back and edge rusher open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
Hit on Colton Hood and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Colton Hood
In pick No. 29 they get a ballhawk on the outside. Need was not the driver here.
Pick47
Rnd2
Max Iheanachor
A big swing on Max Iheanachor at the Round 2 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick61
Rnd2
D'Angelo Ponds
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. D'Angelo Ponds in the 61st overall pick leaves running back and edge rusher for later.
Pick93
Rnd3
Malachi Fields
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Malachi Fields in pick 93, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick113
Rnd4
Kyle Louis
They talked themselves into Kyle Louis at Round 4, Pick 13, and the board did not agree. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick167
Rnd5
Taylen Green
By-the-book stuff, Taylen Green at the 167th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick205
Rnd6
Robert Spears-Jennings
Robert Spears-Jennings at pick 205 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick208
Rnd6
Jordan Hall
They reached into another round for Jordan Hall, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
Pick232
Rnd7
Riley Mahlman
They took Riley Mahlman at par in the 232nd pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick250
Rnd7
Eric Gentry
Eric Gentry in pick No. 250 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick256
Rnd7
Luke Hasz
Luke Hasz in No. 256 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
