FutureA+
Larceny in the 221st overall pick lands the Giants a A-, Howard and all. Call it larceny. Will Howard sat on the board until pick No. 221, and the Giants did not need to be asked twice. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.
Oladejo has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In the 31st overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick34
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
They took Tyler Booker at par in pick 34, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick44
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Somehow Nick Emmanwori was still sitting there in slot 44, and they pounced on premier safety value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick57
Rnd2
Zy Alexander
A straight-up fair deal on Zy Alexander at Round 2, Pick 25, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick63
Rnd2
Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart at No. 63 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the quarterback. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick72
Rnd3
Deone Walker
Nothing to complain about; Deone Walker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick104
Rnd4
David Walker
They reached into another round for David Walker, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
Pick134
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander in the 134th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick149
Rnd5
Oluwafemi Oladejo
They reached a country mile for Oluwafemi Oladejo at the 149th overall pick, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick155
Rnd5
Cody Simon
Cody Simon in pick 155 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick190
Rnd6
Quincy Riley
A quiet steal in pick No. 190: Quincy Riley for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick221
Rnd7
Will Howard
Will Howard in the 221st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick248
Rnd7
Ollie Gordon II
They robbed the room for Ollie Gordon II here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
