Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Cowboys checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cowboys reached some 40 spots for Kamran James, and value like that does not grow back. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense. The dealing was even money, start to finish.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In slot 12 they get the heartbeat of the defense. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick30 Rnd1 Anthony Hill Jr.
In the 30th overall pick they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jadarian Price
No drama and no debate, Jadarian Price went about where he belonged in pick 62. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick112 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 4 slot with a little surplus value in Zachariah Branch. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick150 Rnd5 Trey Moore
They talked themselves into Trey Moore at No. 150, and the board did not agree. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick177 Rnd5 Gracen Halton
They took Gracen Halton at par in the 177th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick215 Rnd6 PJ Williams
They jumped the gun on PJ Williams, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick221 Rnd7 Kamran James
Kamran James at No. 221 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick225 Rnd7 Jordan Hall
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jordan Hall this early at the 225th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
