Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
A-
ValueB+
NeedB+

FutureB+
The Cowboys won the night they stopped Judkins from sliding. Grade: A-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Quinshon Judkins tumbling to the Cowboys in pick No. 150 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.
They will need Williams to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Xavier Worthy deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In No. 15 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
Somehow Malaki Starks was still sitting there in the Round 2 slot, and they pounced on premier safety value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick117
Rnd4
TreVeyon Henderson
The board fumbled TreVeyon Henderson all the way to the 117th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick150
Rnd5
Quinshon Judkins
Taking Quinshon Judkins in slot 150 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick170
Rnd5
Danny Stutsman
They robbed the room for Danny Stutsman here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick172
Rnd5
Jared Wilson
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 172nd pick is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick174
Rnd5
Oronde Gadsden II
Steal is underselling it; Oronde Gadsden II at pick 174 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick201
Rnd6
Ja'Corey Brooks
Ja'Corey Brooks at pick No. 201 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jahvaree Ritzie
Jahvaree Ritzie at No. 211 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick220
Rnd7
Nohl Williams
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nohl Williams this early at the 220th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick249
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
This one needs a full-page explanation: Thor Griffith in the 249th overall pick, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
