FutureB-
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Cowboys a B+. The war room fell hard for Malachi Lawrence, and it showed at slot 112: 35 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. O'Cyrus Torrence gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the 12th pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick26
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a press-man option on the boundary, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick60
Rnd2
A.J. Haulcy
A tidy bit of business in the Round 2 slot, where A.J. Haulcy graded well above the range. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick112
Rnd4
Malachi Lawrence
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Malachi Lawrence well ahead of where he belonged. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick150
Rnd5
Kevin Coleman Jr.
No edge and no loss on Kevin Coleman Jr. in slot 150; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick177
Rnd5
Jaydn Ott
Jaydn Ott in No. 177 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick215
Rnd6
Miles Kitselman
Miles Kitselman at the Round 6 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick221
Rnd7
Josh Moten
The board had Josh Moten higher than slot 221, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick225
Rnd7
Fa'alili Fa'amoe
A wild overpay on Fa'alili Fa'amoe in pick 225, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
