Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall C
ValueD- NeedB TradesD- FutureA-
The Chiefs bled value on every deal, hence the C.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Steven Parker at the Round 6 slot is 157 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C in the wash.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The Jackson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Harold Fannin Jr.
A wild overpay on Harold Fannin Jr. in pick No. 12, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick44 Rnd2 Isaiah Bond
They talked themselves into Isaiah Bond at Round 2, Pick 12, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick66 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott at the 66th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick95 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
The board had Donovan Jackson higher than slot 95, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick132 Rnd4 Ty Robinson
They reached a country mile for Ty Robinson at the 132nd pick, and the board is aghast. The roster fit checks out.
Pick138 Rnd4 Donovan Edwards
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Donovan Edwards. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick139 Rnd4 Kyren Lacy
A big swing on Kyren Lacy at No. 139, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick148 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cobee Bryant well ahead of where he belonged. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick150 Rnd5 Oluwafemi Oladejo
Value said wait; Oluwafemi Oladejo in the 150th pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick172 Rnd5 Jonah Monheim
They read the board right and Jonah Monheim was the payoff at pick 172. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick189 Rnd6 Donovan Smith
Donovan Smith at the 189th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick190 Rnd6 Jabbar Muhammad
Jabbar Muhammad in the Round 6 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick203 Rnd6 Alex Mastromanno
A premium they did not need to pay, Alex Mastromanno a notch or two before his time. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick204 Rnd6 Steven Parker
A real head-scratcher, Steven Parker in slot 204 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick228 Rnd7 Jay Toia
Jay Toia in Round 7, Pick 10 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick253 Rnd7 Power Echols
Power Echols at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick254 Rnd7 Mario Williams
They left a pile of value on the table to take Mario Williams this early at the 254th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick255 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at slot 255 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick256 Rnd7 Gino Garcia
Gino Garcia at pick No. 256 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
