Draft Grade — Bills
Overall

ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Larceny in pick No. 160 lands the Bills a B-, Jones and all. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Bills watched Christian Jones slide 28 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
No drama and no debate, Adonai Mitchell went about where he belonged in pick No. 28. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick60
Rnd2
Ricky Pearsall
Ricky Pearsall in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick128
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Circle this one: Braelon Allen at pick 128 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick134
Rnd4
Josh Newton
Josh Newton is a better player than Round 4, Pick 34 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick144
Rnd5
Beau Brade
A quiet steal in the 144th overall pick: Beau Brade for less than the market said. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick160
Rnd5
Christian Jones
The board fumbled Christian Jones all the way to the 160th pick, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick163
Rnd5
Javion Cohen
No edge and no loss on Javion Cohen in No. 163; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick189
Rnd6
Malik Mustapha
Malik Mustapha at slot 189 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick200
Rnd6
Ro Torrence
They robbed the room for Ro Torrence here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick204
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
By-the-book stuff, Jaylan Ford at the 204th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick248
Rnd7
Josh Proctor
Good price on Josh Proctor in the Round 7 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
