Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesC+
FutureB
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bills a B-. Every other box got a look, but interior defensive lineman did not. The Bills will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Grable. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick37
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
By-the-book stuff, Keon Coleman at pick No. 37 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick60
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
They took Zach Frazier at par in slot 60, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick105
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
No edge and no loss on Zak Zinter in the 105th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick128
Rnd4
Isaac Guerendo
No drama and no debate, Isaac Guerendo went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick134
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Johnny Wilson in pick 134. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick144
Rnd5
Kalen King
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kalen King in the 144th overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick160
Rnd5
Sione Vaki
Sione Vaki in Round 5, Pick 24 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick163
Rnd5
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith at No. 163 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick189
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs in the Round 6 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick200
Rnd6
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Nothing to complain about; Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick204
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford in pick No. 204 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick248
Rnd7
Tylan Grable
They let Tylan Grable come to them and pounced at pick 248. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
