Every other box got a look, but interior defensive lineman did not. The Giants will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

That Smith pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The Freeling reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with safety chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Good price on Parker Brailsford in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.

Isaac Smith is a better player than the 183rd overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
