Daboyz DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Mendoza in the fold, and a B for the Browns. The Browns spent the pick that matters most on Fernando Mendoza, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The Beck pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In No. 3 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27
Rnd1
Chris Brazzell II
In the 27th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
A straight-up fair deal on Olaivavega Ioane at pick No. 38, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick69
Rnd3
Jonah Coleman
Jonah Coleman at Round 3, Pick 5 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick104
Rnd4
Keith Abney II
Keith Abney II in pick 104 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick141
Rnd5
Blake Miller
Nothing to complain about; Blake Miller went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick142
Rnd5
Carson Beck
Circle this one: Carson Beck at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick148
Rnd5
Bray Hubbard
They let Bray Hubbard come to them and pounced at slot 148. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick210
Rnd6
Raylen Wilson
By-the-book stuff, Raylen Wilson at pick No. 210 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick248
Rnd7
De'Zhaun Stribling
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 7 slot with a little surplus value in De'Zhaun Stribling. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
