Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueD+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Cowboys this weekend: B.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Jalin Conyers at the 239th pick is 142 spots clear of where he belonged. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

Giddens falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Justin Strnad deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Omarion Hampton
In pick No. 20 they get a workhorse for the backfield, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
Pick45 Rnd2 Tre Harris
They jumped the gun on Tre Harris, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick51 Rnd2 Jordan Burch
A big swing on Jordan Burch at slot 51, well ahead of any board in the building. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick76 Rnd3 Cobee Bryant
They talked themselves into Cobee Bryant at No. 76, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick99 Rnd3 Darius Alexander
A reasonable price with a little left over, Darius Alexander in the 99th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick105 Rnd4 Brashard Smith
A wild overpay on Brashard Smith in the 105th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick117 Rnd4 Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick149 Rnd5 Teddye Buchanan
A real head-scratcher, Teddye Buchanan in pick No. 149 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick171 Rnd5 Nazir Stackhouse
They reached into another round for Nazir Stackhouse, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick174 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at pick 174 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick204 Rnd6 Kaden Prather
They reached a country mile for Kaden Prather at the 204th pick, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick208 Rnd6 DJ Giddens
Somehow DJ Giddens was still sitting there in the 208th overall pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick211 Rnd6 Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson is a better player than slot 211 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick239 Rnd7 Jalin Conyers
Jalin Conyers in No. 239 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick247 Rnd7 Max Brosmer
They left a pile of value on the table to take Max Brosmer this early at pick No. 247. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
