Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bears were there to profit. De'Corian Clark, the No. 214 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 244.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The linebacker hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

If Smith pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Spending an early pick on safety with linebacker and quarterback open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
