Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+

The Bears cashed the board's mistake on Thornton Jr.: B+.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Dont'e Thornton Jr. tumbling to the Bears in Round 7, Pick 16 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

Adding Mark Glowinski by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Mykel Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Somehow Nick Emmanwori was still sitting there in pick No. 39, and they pounced on premier safety value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick41 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton slid further than he should have, and No. 41 is lovely value for the running back. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick45 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
A tidy little value on Tyleik Williams in slot 45, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick72 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
The board had TreVeyon Henderson higher than pick 72, and the running back fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick149 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
They robbed the room for Emery Jones Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick197 Rnd6 Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray in the 197th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick234 Rnd7 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They will replay Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 234th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick235 Rnd7 Sam Brown
They took Sam Brown at par in the 235th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick242 Rnd7 Cody Lindenberg
Cody Lindenberg at the 242nd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
