Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Bears answered their biggest question with Williams. Grade: D-.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bears, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

Everything downstream of Caleb Williams depends on Caleb Williams, and the building knows it. A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want.

They will need Wilson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. On value alone, Hardy makes the weekend a net positive.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the 1st pick they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In No. 9 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick57 Rnd2 Bralen Trice
A reach on Bralen Trice in Round 2, Pick 25; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jaylen Wright
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylen Wright. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick79 Rnd3 Kamren Kinchens
A tidy little value on Kamren Kinchens in the 79th overall pick, a step better than break-even. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick89 Rnd3 Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III at pick 89 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick111 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in pick No. 111 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick143 Rnd5 Mason McCormick
They paid a round early for Mason McCormick in the Round 5 slot, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick213 Rnd6 Daequan Hardy
Taking Daequan Hardy in slot 213 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
