Start where it matters. The Bears took J.J. McCarthy to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. Reaching for Gore Jr. left real value on the table behind him. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

They banked enough surplus on Liufau to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
