Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Bears lost the trade table, and the B- tells the story.

Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The Weaver pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. If Sainristil pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In No. 9 they get a go-to option on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick14 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In the 14th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Graham Barton
Graham Barton in pick No. 34 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick45 Rnd2 J.J. McCarthy
J.J. McCarthy at pick 45 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
They paid a round early for Mike Sainristil in the 75th pick, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick103 Rnd4 Jacob Cowing
Jacob Cowing in Round 4, Pick 3 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick110 Rnd4 Ray Davis
Ray Davis at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick146 Rnd5 Jaheim Bell
They read the board right and Jaheim Bell was the payoff at slot 146. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick186 Rnd6 Josh Proctor
Josh Proctor at the 186th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick232 Rnd7 J.J. Weaver
Value with a capital V on J.J. Weaver in pick No. 232, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick242 Rnd7 Maurice Smith
A tidy little value on Maurice Smith in the 242nd pick, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
