The Bears answered their biggest question with Williams. Grade: D-. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Bears spent pick 133 on Jaylen Wright, a name most had 30 spots down the list.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter.
It is not that Smith is a bad player; it is that the Bears had louder needs to answer first. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
