Start where it matters. The Raiders took Fernando Mendoza to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

The Payton pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Rutledge falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
