Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB- TradesC+ FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Ravens: C+.

The Ravens treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 3 slot on Tim Keenan III a full 80 spots early. The final tally is a middling C+.

That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Landing Shelton that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.

If Caleb Downs and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In No. 3 they get a two-high chess piece at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick34 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
Olaivavega Ioane at slot 34 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick70 Rnd3 Tim Keenan III
Tim Keenan III at pick 70 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick105 Rnd4 Drew Shelton
A quiet steal in the 105th overall pick: Drew Shelton for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick167 Rnd5 Makhi Hughes
Makhi Hughes in the Round 5 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick174 Rnd5 Braylan Shelby
They reached into another round for Braylan Shelby, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick176 Rnd5 Josh Moten
They jumped the gun on Josh Moten, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick251 Rnd7 Ethan Onianwa
They talked themselves into Ethan Onianwa at the 251st overall pick, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick252 Rnd7 Jamari Lyons
Jamari Lyons at the 252nd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick255 Rnd7 Kamran James
A big swing on Kamran James at pick 255, well ahead of any board in the building. The roster fit checks out.
