The tape said wait; the 49ers did not. Teddye Buchanan went at slot 197, a good 55 picks before the board was ready. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They banked enough surplus on Monangai to cover a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The 49ers paired the rookies with proven help, Caelen Carson leading the way.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
