DORNO DRAFTING FOR THEBears

FutureA+
Nobody dealt better than the Bears this weekend: A-. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Bears came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
They are betting Cowing proves the room right and everyone else wrong. It is not that Hicks is a bad player; it is that the Bears had louder needs to answer first. Hadden at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
The kind of weekend a front office frames and hangs on the wall.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
By-the-book stuff, Rome Odunze at Round 1, Pick 9 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick13
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In pick No. 13 they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick44
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
Chop Robinson at No. 44 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick47
Rnd2
Kris Jenkins
They took Kris Jenkins at par in pick 47, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick75
Rnd3
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper is a better player than the 75th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick110
Rnd4
Beau Brade
No edge and no loss on Beau Brade in the 110th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick125
Rnd4
Jaden Hicks
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Jaden Hicks while clear needs at interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots sat open.
Pick146
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
Value with a capital V on Kamal Hadden in slot 146, a genuine coup. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick150
Rnd5
Jacob Cowing
They reached into another round for Jacob Cowing, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
