Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

TradesA+
FutureA+
The Bears fleeced the room on the phones and earned a A-. If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Bears, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
Spending an early pick on safety with interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. On value alone, Stover makes the weekend a net positive.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Malik Nabers
In the 6th overall pick they get a true top target. A real need, handled.
Pick9
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick52
Rnd2
Javon Bullard
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Javon Bullard in pick 52 leaves interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots for later.
Pick75
Rnd3
Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul slipping to pick No. 75 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
Pick98
Rnd3
Cade Stover
Cade Stover in slot 98 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick106
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
They let Brenden Rice come to them and pounced at No. 106. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick109
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea at the 109th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick121
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
A curious use of pick 121. Interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots needed the pick; a tight end in Ben Sinnott did not.
Pick217
Rnd6
Daijun Edwards
The board had Daijun Edwards higher than Round 6, Pick 42, and the running back fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
