Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueA- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Bears for Klare: D.

Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. It grades a D, and the process earned it.

Spending an early pick on safety with interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

However the rest shakes out, Klare at that price is a win they earned. Adding Trey Hendrickson by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In pick No. 25 they get a three-down second-level presence at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick46 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Somehow Caleb Banks was still sitting there in the 46th pick, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick57 Rnd2 Kamari Ramsey
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kamari Ramsey in No. 57. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick72 Rnd3 Michael Taaffe
A want over a need in Round 3, Pick 8: Michael Taaffe adds a safety while interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick80 Rnd3 Connor Lew
Connor Lew at slot 80 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick89 Rnd3 Max Klare
They will replay Max Klare at the 89th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick129 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Keylan Rutledge at Round 4, Pick 29. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick163 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick239 Rnd7 Rueben Owens II
No edge and no loss on Rueben Owens II in pick No. 239; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick241 Rnd7 Ethan O'Connor
A slide stopped in No. 241, with Ethan O'Connor worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
