Draft Grade — Bears
Overall C+
ValueB- NeedB- TradesF FutureA+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Bears to a C+.

Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The cost of the Van Pran reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
No edge and no loss on Brock Bowers in pick No. 6; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick47 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
They paid sticker price for Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 47th overall pick, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick75 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
The board had cheaper options than Sedrick Van Pran at slot 75, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick110 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
A reach on Darius Robinson in the Round 4 slot; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick122 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
A straight-up fair deal on Cole Bishop at the 122nd pick, value and slot in agreement. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick146 Rnd5 James Williams
The board had James Williams higher than pick 146, and the safety fell to them anyway. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick181 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaylan Ford in No. 181. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
