Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Bears answered their biggest question with Williams. Grade: D-.

Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.

The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Landing Carter that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the 2nd overall pick they get their quarterback of the future at fair value.
Pick9 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In slot 9 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Quinyon Mitchell
Quinyon Mitchell in pick 36 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick44 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
Nothing to complain about; Chop Robinson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Trey Benson
Trey Benson in pick No. 67 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
They paid sticker price for Cooper Beebe in No. 75, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick77 Rnd3 Braden Fiske
No edge and no loss on Braden Fiske in Round 3, Pick 13; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick100 Rnd3 Blake Fisher
A straight-up fair deal on Blake Fisher at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick110 Rnd4 DeWayne Carter
DeWayne Carter slipping to slot 110 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick122 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Sataoa Laumea. It fills a real need, too.
Pick146 Rnd5 Keith Randolph Jr.
Keith Randolph Jr. in pick No. 146 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
