FutureA+
The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D+. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Bears did exactly that with Jasheen Davis in the 240th pick. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D+ is the result.
That Knight Jr. pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The whole projection now runs through Shedeur Sanders; hit there and everything else looks smarter.
The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, cornerback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick10
Rnd1
Wyatt Milum
In the 10th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
They let Kenneth Grant come to them and pounced at slot 34. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker in the 39th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick41
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at pick 41 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick72
Rnd3
Grey Zabel
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Grey Zabel at Round 3, Pick 8 is the proof. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick147
Rnd5
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Circle this one: Demetrius Knight Jr. at the 147th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick193
Rnd6
Cam Skattebo
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to pick 193, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick233
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
They went early on Shilo Sanders in pick No. 233, and the value did not follow. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick240
Rnd7
Jasheen Davis
A wild overpay on Jasheen Davis in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
