Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureC
The Bears worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Bears, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend.

Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Campbell lower, and that gap is the story.

However the rest shakes out, Haulcy at that price is a win they earned. The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick41 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
They read the board right and Sonny Styles was the payoff at the 41st overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick57 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
They did well to land Caleb Banks in slot 57, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick66 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy slipping to No. 66 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick89 Rnd3 Caden Curry
Caden Curry in pick No. 89 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick129 Rnd4 Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor in Round 4, Pick 29 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick146 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
They paid a round early for DJ Campbell in the 146th pick, more than the board wanted. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick239 Rnd7 Will Kacmarek
Will Kacmarek in pick 239 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick241 Rnd7 Tony Grimes
Tony Grimes at the Round 7 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
