FutureB-
Wheatley should have been long gone. The Bears pounced, and earned a C+. The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
However the rest shakes out, Wheatley at that price is a win they earned. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The cost of the Williams reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
In the 25th overall pick they get a load in the middle at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick89
Rnd3
Zakee Wheatley
You do not let a safety like Zakee Wheatley reach No. 89 and blink. They did not. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick95
Rnd3
Emmett Johnson
Emmett Johnson at slot 95 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick163
Rnd5
Nadame Tucker
Nothing to complain about; Nadame Tucker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick213
Rnd6
PJ Williams
PJ Williams in Round 6, Pick 34 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
