FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Steelers: B. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Steelers spent pick No. 61 on Jalen Milroe, a name the board had a full 34 spots lower. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Williams value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kenneth Grant in Round 1, Pick 29. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick61
Rnd2
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe in slot 61 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick83
Rnd3
Charles Grant
Charles Grant at pick No. 83 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick123
Rnd4
Bhayshul Tuten
They reached into another round for Bhayshul Tuten, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick185
Rnd6
Kyle Williams
A quiet steal in pick 185: Kyle Williams for less than the market said. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick229
Rnd7
Craig Woodson
The board had Craig Woodson higher than the 229th overall pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
