FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Bears: B-. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Bears did exactly that with Solomon Tuliaupupu in Round 7, Pick 25.
Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Thieneman value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
In pick No. 29 they get a wrecking ball inside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick61
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman slipping to the 61st overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick93
Rnd3
Kaytron Allen
No edge and no loss on Kaytron Allen in No. 93; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick124
Rnd4
Aaron Graves
They reached a country mile for Aaron Graves at the Round 4 slot, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick168
Rnd5
Isaac Smith
Isaac Smith is a better player than pick 168 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick241
Rnd7
Solomon Tuliaupupu
Solomon Tuliaupupu in the 241st pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick245
Rnd7
J. Michael Sturdivant
They took J. Michael Sturdivant at par in pick No. 245, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
