The Falcons checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The Falcons went off the board in a big way for Haynes King, 79 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They banked enough surplus on Jackson to cover a lot of smaller sins. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick57
Rnd2
Germie Bernard
They paid a round early for Germie Bernard in Round 2, Pick 25, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick79
Rnd3
Caden Curry
Caden Curry at the 79th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick91
Rnd3
Jack Endries
A reach for Jack Endries in pick 91; a little patience would have been rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick114
Rnd4
DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at slot 114 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick163
Rnd5
Oscar Delp
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Oscar Delp. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick166
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 166, where Domani Jackson graded well above the range. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick195
Rnd6
Bobby Jamison-Travis
A reach on Bobby Jamison-Travis in the 195th pick; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick228
Rnd7
Hykeem Williams
A real head-scratcher, Hykeem Williams in the 228th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick231
Rnd7
Haynes King
Haynes King at pick No. 231 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
