The Cowboys cashed the board's mistake on Love: B+. The real work happened on the phones. The Cowboys fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. Love at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Adding Jalen Nailor by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In pick 18 they get a green-dot type in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick20
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In slot 20 they get an every-down engine for the run game, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick49
Rnd2
A.J. Haulcy
By-the-book stuff, A.J. Haulcy at the 49th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick97
Rnd3
Julian Neal
Julian Neal in pick No. 97 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick112
Rnd4
Treydan Stukes
Somehow Treydan Stukes was still sitting there in the 112th pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
