Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
A passer of the future in Williams, and a D-, for the Bears.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bears, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.

They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.

They are betting Foster proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Rouse value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
Rome Odunze in pick 9 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick43 Rnd2 Darius Robinson
Fair-plus on Darius Robinson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick74 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
No edge and no loss on Cooper Beebe in Round 3, Pick 10; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Xavier Legette
No drama and no debate, Xavier Legette went about where he belonged in pick No. 75. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick110 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop at the 110th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick111 Rnd4 Javon Foster
A premium they did not need to pay, Javon Foster a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick123 Rnd4 McKinnley Jackson
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on McKinnley Jackson. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick143 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson is a better player than Round 5, Pick 7 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick161 Rnd5 AJ Barner
A straight-up fair deal on AJ Barner at slot 161, value and slot in agreement. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick188 Rnd6 Walter Rouse
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Walter Rouse at No. 188. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
