The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Bears reached some 51 spots for Trajan Jeffcoat, and value like that does not grow back.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain.

That Proctor pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
