Thevolak DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Packers: B-. The Packers spent real capital to be 39 picks early on Matthew Jones, and the board is going to hold them to it. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
That is an edge rusher worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Jordan Morgan
In slot 25 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tyler Nubin in pick No. 41. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick57
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Nothing to complain about; Jackson Powers-Johnson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jonathon Brooks
The board fumbled Jonathon Brooks all the way to the 88th pick, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick91
Rnd3
Adisa Isaac
Taking Adisa Isaac in No. 91 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick125
Rnd4
Austin Booker
This one needs a full-page explanation: Austin Booker in the Round 4 slot, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick135
Rnd4
Nehemiah Pritchett
Nehemiah Pritchett at Round 4, Pick 35 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick203
Rnd6
Matthew Jones
A wild overpay on Matthew Jones in pick 203, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick217
Rnd6
Miyan Williams
A quiet steal in pick No. 217: Miyan Williams for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick219
Rnd6
Kenny Logan Jr.
Value with a capital V on Kenny Logan Jr. in the Round 6 slot, a genuine coup. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick246
Rnd7
Nathaniel Watson
A clean, defensible pick in slot 246 with a little surplus value in Nathaniel Watson. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
