Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA
The Chiefs got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the B-.

The Trey Moore pick is the one that will follow the Chiefs into the fall. They took him 69 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The Hill Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick40 Rnd2 Zion Young
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zion Young. It fills a real need, too.
Pick50 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks in pick 50 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick66 Rnd3 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in No. 66 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick69 Rnd3 Anthony Hill Jr.
Taking Anthony Hill Jr. in Round 3, Pick 5 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick70 Rnd3 Brian Parker II
Brian Parker II in pick No. 70 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick74 Rnd3 Gabe Jacas
Gabe Jacas at the Round 3 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick82 Rnd3 Jake Golday
Steal is underselling it; Jake Golday at the 82nd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick95 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
Somehow Keionte Scott was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 31, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick109 Rnd4 Nicholas Singleton
They read the board right and Nicholas Singleton was the payoff at the Round 4 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick131 Rnd4 CJ Daniels
A straight-up fair deal on CJ Daniels at pick No. 131, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick144 Rnd5 Malik Benson
They did well to land Malik Benson in pick 144, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick146 Rnd5 Trey Moore
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Trey Moore. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick159 Rnd5 Sam Roush
Sam Roush at No. 159 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick161 Rnd5 Aamil Wagner
They liked Aamil Wagner enough to skip the value, taking him in the 161st pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick169 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
They robbed the room for Domani Jackson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick170 Rnd5 Charles Jagusah
They talked themselves into Charles Jagusah at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick176 Rnd5 Marlin Klein
Marlin Klein in the 176th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick207 Rnd6 Dallen Bentley
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 207, where Dallen Bentley graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick210 Rnd6 Noah Whittington
A premium they did not need to pay, Noah Whittington a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
Pick237 Rnd7 Raylen Wilson
Nothing to complain about; Raylen Wilson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick248 Rnd7 Miles Kitselman
They will replay Miles Kitselman at pick 248 for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
