Draft Grade — Giants
Overall A-

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Giants and Edwards: A-.

You build a draft on nights like this. Donovan Edwards had no business being available in No. 246, and the Giants did the only sane thing and turned in the card. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Asante Samuel Jr. pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Tyler Warren and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a security blanket over the middle. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Luther Burden III
Luther Burden III in the 34th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick55 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
A safety of that caliber at No. 55 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick65 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in the 65th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick99 Rnd3 Will Howard
They paid sticker price for Will Howard in pick No. 99, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick105 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
A tidy little value on Jared Wilson in pick 105, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick154 Rnd5 Tyler Baron
Tyler Baron in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick219 Rnd7 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins is a better player than slot 219 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick246 Rnd7 Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards in Round 7, Pick 30 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
