Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The 49ers cashed the board's mistake on Sanders: B+.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Raheim Sanders tumbling to the 49ers in slot 231 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

They will need Griffith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In pick 15 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43 Rnd2 Shemar Stewart
A reach for Shemar Stewart in pick No. 43; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at No. 75 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick100 Rnd3 Azareye'h Thomas
No drama and no debate, Azareye'h Thomas went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 36. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick112 Rnd4 Jack Bech
Jack Bech in the 112th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick137 Rnd4 Jake Majors
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jake Majors reach the 137th overall pick and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick186 Rnd6 Keon Sabb
Keon Sabb in slot 186 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick224 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick231 Rnd7 Raheim Sanders
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Raheim Sanders in No. 231, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick249 Rnd7 Jake Briningstool
The board fumbled Jake Briningstool all the way to slot 249, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick254 Rnd7 Kyle Monangai
Kyle Monangai at Round 7, Pick 40 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
