Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Patriots for Warren: B-.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Patriots did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

That Warren pick is the receipt they will wave around later. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick38 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Warren at the 38th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick45 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Aireontae Ersery. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick57 Rnd2 Josaiah Stewart
They did well to land Josaiah Stewart in No. 57, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick69 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
Value with a capital V on TreVeyon Henderson in pick No. 69, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick77 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
They let Donovan Jackson come to them and pounced at slot 77. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick106 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at the 106th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick144 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at slot 144 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick217 Rnd7 Alijah Huzzie
Alijah Huzzie in No. 217 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick220 Rnd7 Desmond Watson
A reach on Desmond Watson in the 220th pick; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick232 Rnd7 Craig Woodson
A quiet steal in Round 7, Pick 16: Craig Woodson for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick238 Rnd7 Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris slipping to pick No. 238 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
