Draft Grade — Jets

FutureA+
A solid, sensible weekend for the Jets: B. The Jets clearly saw something nobody else did in Vincent Anthony Jr., taking him 44 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Getting Green where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The Weeks pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman and running back still on the board.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill hitter at safety at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33
Rnd2
Arvell Reese
Value said wait; Arvell Reese in slot 33 says they were not listening. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick39
Rnd2
Chris Bell
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chris Bell. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick101
Rnd4
Whit Weeks
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Whit Weeks at linebacker with interior defensive lineman and running back open.
Pick109
Rnd4
Charles Jagusah
Charles Jagusah in Round 4, Pick 9 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick140
Rnd4
Vincent Anthony Jr.
They reached into another round for Vincent Anthony Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick201
Rnd6
Trebor Pena
They paid a round early for Trebor Pena in the Round 6 slot, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick208
Rnd6
Taylen Green
A quarterback of that caliber at No. 208 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick245
Rnd7
Kayin Lee
They went early on Kayin Lee in slot 245, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick256
Rnd7
PJ Williams
A reach on PJ Williams in pick No. 256; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick257
Rnd7
Haynes King
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Haynes King well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
