Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall D
ValueF NeedB- TradesB- FutureD-
The Ravens have some explaining to do after a D.

The Ravens did not so much draft Seth McGowan as overpay for him, 373 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.

Barron at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 RJ Oben
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get juice off the edge, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Seth McGowan
A wild overpay on Seth McGowan in the Round 2 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick59 Rnd2 Carson Schwesinger
A reach for Carson Schwesinger in the 59th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick111 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at pick 111 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick176 Rnd5 Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm at the 176th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick183 Rnd6 Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson at No. 183 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick203 Rnd6 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jamon Dumas-Johnson. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick210 Rnd6 Brandon Adams
They talked themselves into Brandon Adams at the 210th pick, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick212 Rnd6 Jacory Croskey-Merritt
Jacory Croskey-Merritt in Round 6, Pick 36 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick243 Rnd7 Jahdae Barron
Circle this one: Jahdae Barron at slot 243 is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
