Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall
D+
ValueF
NeedB
TradesF
FutureB
The Jaguars got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D+. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Jaguars spent the 13th overall pick on Quincy Riley, a name most had 166 spots down the list. The math is unkind, and the D+ follows.
However the rest shakes out, Royals at that price is a win they earned. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Nic Scourton
In pick No. 8 they get a premier pass rusher, a steep price for the projection. Need was not the driver here.
Pick13
Rnd1
Quincy Riley
In pick 13 they get a sticky cover corner, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick57
Rnd2
Cameron Williams
They went early on Cameron Williams in Round 2, Pick 25, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick88
Rnd3
Kobe Hudson
Kobe Hudson at the 88th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick107
Rnd4
Nazir Stackhouse
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nazir Stackhouse this early at the 107th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick159
Rnd5
Jalen Royals
Steal is underselling it; Jalen Royals at slot 159 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick194
Rnd6
Shemar James
Value said wait; Shemar James in Round 6, Pick 18 says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick221
Rnd7
Rayuan Lane III
They talked themselves into Rayuan Lane III at slot 221, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
