Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB- NeedA- TradesC+ FutureA
A franchise passer in Ward headlines a B weekend for the Browns.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Browns committed. Cam Ward is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

Reaching for Jones left real value on the table behind him. Getting Jones Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In No. 3 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren slipping to pick 33 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick65 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins in Round 3, Pick 1 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins at the 67th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick80 Rnd3 Sai'vion Jones
Sai'vion Jones at the 80th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick103 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
The board had Andrew Mukuba higher than slot 103, and the safety fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
Pick121 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jared Wilson at pick No. 121. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick144 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick181 Rnd6 Dorian Strong
They will replay Dorian Strong at slot 181 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick194 Rnd6 CJ West
A big swing on CJ West at the 194th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick202 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in No. 202 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
