Hancock at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it. The Bills indulged a want in Porter while a need in linebacker, offensive lineman and other spots stayed open.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
