Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesC+ FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Saints.

The Saints clearly saw something nobody else did in Connor Colby, taking him 85 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

On value alone, Etienne makes the weekend a net positive. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Mason Graham
Mason Graham at pick No. 9 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick40 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland is a better player than Round 2, Pick 8 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick71 Rnd3 Bradyn Swinson
Bradyn Swinson in No. 71 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick93 Rnd3 Connor Colby
They talked themselves into Connor Colby at the Round 3 slot, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick131 Rnd4 Elijah Roberts
A wild overpay on Elijah Roberts in slot 131, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick184 Rnd6 Trevor Etienne
Steal is underselling it; Trevor Etienne at the 184th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick191 Rnd6 Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt in slot 191 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick226 Rnd7 Kai Kroeger
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kai Kroeger this early at the 226th overall pick. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick248 Rnd7 Ty Hamilton
They did well to land Ty Hamilton in pick 248, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
